It's hard to imagine a time when any team other than the New York Yankees was baseball's dominating force. Just prior to the unveiling of "Murderer's Row," the game's juggernaut did hail from New York City—but it was the Giants, not the Yanks. Albeit a short run, the Giants, behind legendary manager John McGraw, took over the hardball world with back-to-back World Series titles in 1921 and 1922—both at the expense of their crosstown rival Yankees. Having captured the 1921 Series in eight games (the last year that the best-of-nine format was employed), the Giants began 1922 in an inauspicious manner, dropping the season opener to the Brooklyn Robins. But "Little Napoleon" and Co. proceeded to win 18 of their next 21 games and were off and running to another NL pennant and subsequent Fall Classic title—this one via a four-game sweep of the Bronx Bombers in which Babe Ruth was held to a paltry .118 batting clip.

25 members of the 1922 World Series champion New York Giants have signed this Official National League John Heydler stamped baseball in black steel-tipped fountain pen. Signatures include Hall of Famers John McGraw, George “High Pockets” Kelly, Casey Stengel, Frankie Frisch, Hughie Jennings, Ross Youngs and Dave Bancroft. Other signatures include Irish Meusel, Johnny Rawlings, Virgil Barnes, Frank Snyder, Heinie Groh, Jack Scott, Jesse Barnes, Claude Jonnard, Dave Robertson, Carmen Hill, Alex Gaston, Bill Cunningham, Ralph Shriners, Earl Smith, Art Nehf, Rosy Ryan, Lee King and one other. The signatures are light, but still readable and the ball displays minor toning. The stampings are still bold and present beautifully. This comes with a LOA from JSA (Z07492) for the signatures.
