This stunning bronze soccer player sculpture was presented to Uruguayan goalkeeper Andres Mazali by the Uruguayan Olympic Committee after the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics. Mazali guarded the goal for the rampant Uruguayan team, surrendering only two goals in the entire tournament as Uruguay captured their first gold medal with a dominating 3-0 win over Switzerland. Uruguay’s 18-year old forward Pedro “Perucho” Petrone was the tournament’s leading scorer with seven goals. This trophy is 14 inches tall, standing on a 7.5 x 5.25-inch base, and depicts a soccer player reaching his right leg back to strike a ball. The name “Fuch” is applied to the base in white lettering. This trophy is in good condition and originates from the estate of Andres Mazali. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
