The 1930 World Cup Final saw the two best teams in the world – Uruguay and Argentina – meet to decide the champion of FIFA’s inaugural global tournament. To reach the final, both Uruguay and Argentina clocked their semifinal opponents 6-1, with Argentina eliminating the United States and Uruguay handling Yugoslavia. Playing in their home stadium of Estadio Centenario, Uruguay delivered a 4-2 victory in the final, with goals coming from Pablo Dorado, Jose Pedro Cea, Victoriano Iriarte, and Hector Castro.

Offered in this lot is a team photograph of the Argentina men’s national soccer team taken before their semifinal matchup against the United States at Estadio Centenario. Unfazed by the pressure of the moment, one of the Argentina players in the second row is pictured mugging for the camera. The players are mostly pictured wearing suit jackets over their uniforms. Handwritten on the back of this photograph in black pen is “Para Ruben Lino / Recuerdo de los bravos con felictones[sic] campeones del Centenario / Ano 1930”. This photograph measures 4.75 x 3.5 inches and is in good condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
