Presented here is a warrant from 1932 signed by the then-governor of New York, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This warrant was signed in April, a few months before Roosevelt won the 1932 Presidential election against Herbert Hoover. Roosevelt obtained an incredible 472 electoral votes, compared to the paltry 59 amassed by the Republican Hoover. Roosevelt also claimed an emphatic victory in the popular vote, collecting 57.4% of all votes cast.
On this warrant, Roosevelt recognizes that authorities in the state of New York captured a fugitive from the neighboring commonwealth of Massachusetts. This warrant measures 11 x 8 ½ inches, and features a gold seal of the state of New York. Roosevelt signed the bottom of the warrant in black fountain pen. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (Y00204).
