This program from the 1932 World Series played between the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs features a color image of a Yankees player sliding under the tag at home plate as an umpire watches the play closely on the front cover. This program from Yankee Stadium went for steal of twenty-five cents back in 1932, upon looking even closer it appears as if the Yankee’s shadow is a step ahead of the soon to be, “SAFE!” call, possibly foreshadowing a New York series victory. Inside we find player portraits from both squads, the first two being Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

     During Game 3 of this World Series legend and myth collided, it was the top of the 5th inning when Babe Ruth stepped up to the plate, pointed his bat to the stands, and knocked a home run over the center field fence, forever known as Ruth’s, “called shot.” This series also marked the first time that both teams wore numbers on the back of their uniforms. The Yankees would go on to sweep the series, defeating the Cubs 4-0 in the 1932 World Series. The program has not been scored and is in good condition. There is a crease running vertically down the center and the edges show some wear. The bottom left corner has some paper loss and the bottom right corner displays bending.
