Graded VG+ 3.5 by PSA, one of just two examples validated by that company. Hall of Famer. The V129 issue represents an extraordinary series of scarce collectibles – depicting the ice-patrolling athletes of hockey's Golden Age– that is nearly priceless in its character. The 1933-34 release consists of posed, full-length sepia likenesses of its subjects dominating the cardfronts, and a bilingual description appearing on each reverse. This issue's still-unidentified manufacturer, conjectured in recent years to have been a cigarette company, clearly took pains to deliver inserts of enduring appeal. The offered, short-printed card of Harry Oliver is the widely recognized "key" to the V129 gallery, and is generally acknowledged as a true mark of distinction for any advanced vintage hockey collection. This specimen displays a clear and well-focused illustration of the Boston star, with condition liabilities limited to moderate and inoffensive corner wear; light traces of factory over-inking (not affecting legibility of text) appear on the reverse. Here is the ultimate prospective acquisition from an important and highly esteemed production, in fully pleasing Very Good-plus condition.
