Before the days of Nintendo, Sega, Play Station or many of the other gaming devices, there were penny coin-op games to pass the time. Issued in 1933 by the Baker Novelty Company out of Chicago, IL, this penny coin-op football game presents a challenge to any arcade competitors' hand-eye coordination. After inserting a penny, Player 1 executes a "kick" while the ball trickles through a maze of bumpers and Player 2 is charged with "fielding" the erratic "pigskin." Both kicking (three balls are included) and fielding are performed by turning respective circular knobs, and points are recorded by the automated scoreboard situated near the kicker. The game - which concedes operational wear - measures 14 ½ inches wide, 17 ½ inches tall and 10 inches deep. This machine has been happily tested by this writer and is fully operational!
