Graded NM 7 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among more than 1,040 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, just fifteen examples have been placed at a higher, unqualified tier. The gleaming classic here offered, radiant in its character and intense in its presentation, will elevate one of the hobby's very finest collections. Here is an estimable '33 Goudey Ruth, a card that seems to be more challenging to obtain in high grade than any of its three, same-set contemporaries. In its important context, this yellow-backgrounded, low-number Ruth is a true "key" card among the mass of greatness gathered within its masterpiece series. This yellow Ruth's priceless likeness beams from its cardboard confines with incandescent brilliance. All of its cardfront hues, as if by magic, harmonize effectively to accent each other's highlights and impress the viewer's senses in a manner of pleasure that's experienced so very seldom. Its corners retain their geometric precision, and its borders reflect bright, unsullied white. On the back, green ink of luminous appeal and superlative depth, atop snow white, greets the eye of the observer who, initially prepared to express skepticism, is for the moment speechless. The shading of Ruth's bat, the red tones in the caption block, the bold personality's beautifully refined portrait - all of these aspects are effectively unimprovable, and they are crowned in their united, visual glory by that immortal, and here crisply printed, sequence at the upper left: "George Herman (Babe) Ruth." Those four words, in vivid blue ink against an alluring sea of yellow, warm an enthusiast's spirit and signal the ideal outcome following a prolonged search. This is a truly meritorious offering, featuring a most-challenging prize from a revered production, and it is a card which displays magnificently. Near Mint condition.
