The 1934 baseball season was likely Lou Gehrig's best overall as he slugged 49 home runs, drove in 165 runs while hitting .363. He won the Triple Crown and the overall "triple-slash" title with highest batting average, on base and slugging percentages. During this remarkable season, Gehrig received a request from a fan, "Mr. John M. Frank" for a photo. Gehrig's handwritten reply on the blank side of this government postcard reads, "Dear John - I certainly appreciated your kind remarks, but unfortunately I haven't any photos - Wishing you good luck and kindest regards from Lou Gehrig." He also penned the addressee information in his own hand. The evenly toned postcards is postmarked "Jun 9, 1934 Fordham Sta., N.Y." A small portion of Gehrig's handwritten reply is obscured by a few lines of what appears to be a postmark stamp, but his signature remains perfect. This GPC has been graded and encapsulated by PSA/DNA as GEM MINT 10, with a tag number of 83185159. This is an amazing Lou Gehrig signature, written during the best season of his illustrious career.
