The 1935 season was a landmark year for the Boston Red Sox. Despite finishing with a 78-75 record, it was the first time since the 1918 World Series year that the team finished above .500. The next year, future Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx would join the Red Sox from the Philadelphia Athletics where he would eventually win his third MVP Award in 1938.
Offered is an Official American League William Harridge baseball signed by six members of the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Athletics. Hall of Famers Lefty Grove and Jimmie Foxx have both signed this heavily toned, all-red stitched baseball. Grove signed his name on the sweet spot in faded blue ink. The signature is light but still readable, while Foxx signed his name in black pen on the adjacent panel between the signatures of Bob Johnson and Bing Miller. Johnson and Foxx were members of the A’s in 1935. Signing his name on the side panel next to the Grove signed sweet spot is the faded black pen signature of Rube Walberg. The panel to the left of the commissioner stamp sweet spot is the signature of George Blaeholder in faded black ink. The baseball shows signs of age and the stampings and signatures are faded but still readable. This multi-signed baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07855).
