Presented is a rarely offered, very attractive 168-card complete set of R60 "G-Men & Heroes of the Law" non-sports cards issued in 1936. As it was for sports-related trading card releases, the 1930s was a "Golden Era" for non-sports trading card releases. Among the more substantial and widely popular issues was this skip-numbered production. The cartoonish, but graphic "cops vs. robbers" full-color illustrations, along with the detailed supporting text, combine to portray the pivotal era of gangsters and the legacy that they left behind. Completing this set is a challenging task due to the five rarities (#'s 28, 57, 88, 94 and 100), other rarities and the issue's sought-after "High Number" entries. Highlights include: #'s 28 "G-Men Deliver Death" (VG/EX), 57 "Mining for Murder (GD, glue), 88 "Target of Death" (EX), 94 "G-Men Strike in the Dark" (EX/MT), 100 "The Dragnet Snares its Prey" (GD/VG) and 451 "The Voice from the Ether Cone" (EX). The "Low Numbers" (120; #'s 1-196) grade 5% NM to NM/MT, 48% EX to EX/MT, 42% VG to VG/EX, 5% lesser. The "High Numbers" (48; #'s 201-451) grade 10% NM to NM/MT, 50% EX to EX/MT, 40% VG to VG/EX (few lesser). Overall, the set grades 7% NM to NM/MT, 48% EX to EX/MT, 39% VG to VG/EX, 6% lesser.
