In Game 3 of the 1946 World Series, the Boston Red Sox made their triumphant return to Fenway Park for the first time since the 1918 World Series. Their opponent in ’46 was the St. Louis Cardinals, led by Stan Musial and Enos Slaughter, a pair of Hall of Fame outfielders. The most enduring moment from this Series was Slaughter’s “Mad Dash” in Game 7, when he scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth, making it from first to home on a single to left-center field. The Cardinals won the game 4-3, plunging the Red Sox deeper into the “Curse of the Bambino”.

Game 3 was kinder to the Red Sox, as they won 4-0 behind a Dave Ferriss complete game shutout. Rudy York provided much of the offense, clubbing a three run home run in the first inning and scoring the final run in the bottom of the eighth. This ticket is in good condition, although four holes have been punched on the ends of the ticket. This ticket has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (23847549).
