Presented here is a 1947 “Sports Father of the Year” medal awarded to Babe Ruth. Ruth was the father of two daughters, and by all accounts a doting and loving father. This medal measures 1.25 inches in diameter, and is attached to a red, white, and blue ribbon. On the front of the medal is a high-relief etching of George Washington, with a stars and stripes background. The reverse side of this medal is etched with “Babe Ruth / Sports Father of the Year / National Father’s Day Committee / 1947”. This medal is in fine condition and is a very unique offering from the life of America’s most iconic sportsman.
