There's a lot of significant teams that made baseball history - but there's only one that forever broke the game's color barrier - the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers. This Official National League Ford C. Frick game used baseball brings together 12 members of MLB's first integrated team in the 20th century. Besides the social significance of this team, the 1947 Dodgers was the club that bridged Leo Durocher's Dodgers of the early 1940's and the 1950's Boys’ of Summer.

This offered baseball was used in a game during the 1947 season and features the signatures of none other than Jackie Robinson himself as the Hall of Famer and trailblazer signed his name in blue pen on the north panel. The north panel also has the signatures of Hugh Casey, Dixie Walker and Hal Gregg – all in blue pen. The remaining signatures are also in blue pen and include Hall of Famer Arky Vaughan, who signed his name on the center of the east panel and is flanked by the signatures of Ralph Branca, Vic Lombardi, Eddie Stanky and Stan Rojek.

The sweet spot was signed by Hank Behrman and the west panel has Al Gionfriddo and Stan Miksis. This ball has been inscribed “Winning ball play in Ebbetts Field for BKLYN Dodgers 1947 National League Champs to Harry Chasazza”. The inscription covers the faded stamped sweet spot and the adjacent panel. The ball displays game use with numerous marks and abrasions and has toned due to age. This baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AD02812) for the signatures and a LOA from MEARS for the game use.

Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium (28% if payment is made using a credit card and/or is not paid within 10 days of invoice). Goldin Auctions will be donating 10% of the winning bid price to The Jackie Robinson Foundation.
