Hall of Famer Stan Musial had another memorable season in 1948 when he led the National League with a lofty .376 average, 131 RBI, 18 triples, 46 doubles, 230 hits and 135 runs. Musial was the runaway winner of the NL MVP, beating out Johnny Sain and Al Dark for his third and final MVP season. With Musial winning his third MVP, the makers at Dieges & Clust put together this salesman sample of the 1948 MVP Award. This award is a 16-inch diameter black painted wood that is ¾ inches thick. An octagonal metal plate is centered that has in raised lettering “KENESAW MOUNTAIN LANDIS MEMORIAL BASEBALL AWARD” in large lettering around the edges. A raised diamond plate is in the middle with gold-colored oval and banners that has an image of Landis and “1921” and “1944” on the banners at the top. Please note that this piece is connected but loose and comes off easily. “MOST VALUABLE PLAYER NATIONAL LEAGUE” is in raised lettering below and a gold colored rectangle plate reads “STAN MUSIAL ST. LOUIS CARDINALS”. A raised ball and two bats is below that has “1946” engraved with a diamoned-shaped pin at the bottom that has a green top and “BB W A A” printed. The back has the “Dieges & Clust” metal marker below the looped hook on the top. This salesman sample is in good condition, displaying some tarnish on the metal top and the aforementioned loose piece.
