Graded NM+ 7.5 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among more than 800 copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, less than ten percent reside at a higher, unqualified tier. The offered card was produced the year after Musial had captured his third MVP Award. "The Man" finished second in 1949's voting after compiling a .338 average and leading his league in hits, total bases, doubles and triples. This specimen is a highly appropriate commemorative for one of Musial's immensely successful early campaigns. The card's centering is exceptional, and its uninterrupted purple background provides splendid visual accenting for the tinted batting-pose likeness. All four corners are nicely shaped, with faint touches at their tips evident only under close scrutiny. Here is a creditable second-year card of the popular Cardinals superstar, in attractive Near Mint-plus condition.
