Joe DiMaggio was the proud son of Sicilian immigrants. His father Guiseppe was a fisherman in San Francisco and hoped that his five sons would follow in his footsteps. That would not be the case for Joe, who went on to have a 13-year Hall of Fame career, with a 56-game hitting streak, a record that still stands to this day. DiMaggio opened DiMaggio's Grotto at Fisherman's Wharf with a $25,000 investment, partnering with his brothers, Dom and Vince. The restaurant was famous for its neon sign of Joe DiMaggio in his familiar batting stance. The interior was lined with pictures of the brother's baseball buddies and was famous for its cioppino. Joe's older brother Tom would retire from fishing and run the family restaurant, with Joe DiMaggio selling his stake in the business, but would be seen dining there for years to come. The jersey comes from the family restaurant, owned and operated by baseball royalty.

Presented here is a button-down DiMaggio's restaurant jersey signed by the owner and baseball legend, Joe DiMaggio. The jersey is gray, with “DiMAGGIO'S” appearing in navy and red tackle twill across the front of the jersey. The number "9" appears on the front and the back of the jersey navy and red tackle twill. Navy and red stripes appear on the jersey's sleeve, and a Stroh's size "L" manufacturing tag is located on the front left tail of the jersey.  DiMaggio signed the jersey in black marker along the right front of the jersey. The autographed jersey comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication (A32741).
