Offered here is an 8 x 10-inch black and white photograph of the legendary slugger and Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle from his early career taken by renowned photographer Don Wingfield sometime in the 1950’s. Winfield’s credentials included Life and Look magazines, along with numerous photos used in team publications and trading cards. This striking image of Mantle shows the switch hitting phenom in his left-handed pose while donning his road New York Yankees’ flannel gray jersey. Mantle is looking slightly off-camera to his right, with bat in hand. In the background are the stands. The back of this photograph has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp in purple and a “COPYRIGHT DON WINGFIELD” stamp in black below. This photograph displays beautifully displaying on minor surface and edge wear and has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (84261334), who have classified this photograph as a Type I.
