No one blasted more World Series home run than Mickey Mantle, who clouted 18 post season smashes. Includes: 1) 1953 – Mantle is off balanced but still powers a long HR vs. Dodgers. Roy Campanella is catcher. Date stamps Oct. 3, 1953. Interesting to see how the editor cropping on obverse leads to image of partial newspaper on verso. 1953 – Entering congratulatory dugout after smashing grand slam on Oct. 5, 1953, with newspaper caption and date stamp. They all loved the Mick! 2) 1956 – crossing home plate greeted by Yogi Berra after Game 5 fourth inning blast. Caption states: “…Mickey’s belt went into lower right field stands just inside foul line. It was the first hit in game for either side.” Why interesting? Larsen’s perfect game. Only run Yankees would need.
