The 1951 season was a transition year in Yankee-land as the great Joe DiMaggio was in his final season, and the rookie phenom (and eventual baseball legend) Mickey Mantle was in his first season. These three items help chronicle that 1951 year, which saw the Yankees win their third of eventual five consecutive World Series championships. Includes: 1951 Sketchbook – Yankees issued “sketchbooks” before they became known as yearbooks. This book has a cover with all their prior World Series titles printed on trophy baseballs. Individual features and photos of all players, with 1950 team photo in centerfield. EX-MT condition. Program – from June 22, 1951 game vs Cleveland. Yanks win 6-0 and Allie Reynolds beats Bob Feller. Program has pencil notations of changes in pre-printed lineup, which correspond to our research involving game. Mantle batted third, caught stealing in first inning. EX condition. Ticket Stub – dated June 22, 1951, a few light creases, otherwise clean. VG condition. This is a great group of items from the greatest transition season in New York Yankee history.
