Graded GD 2 (MK) by PSA. Hall of Famer, in his debut Topps appearance. The statement might seem to be an oxymoron, but this really is a nice GD card! The exceptional, deep color of the piece, especially the familiar aqua-colored background, retains the largest measure of its brightness. The white interlocking "NY" on the front of Mickey's cap contrasts sharply against its dark navy blue, and his bat is an almost luminescent yellow. The corners are extremely well-formed for the grade, and the reverse displays clear, uninterrupted printing.

Overall, PSA's assessment of the card's status is technically accurate, but the fault that motivated the proclamation is relatively inoffensive: the rationale for the downgrading of this piece centers primarily on a (largely erased) handwritten character on the reverse. Most collectors would agree that this card – a supremely desirable entry from the issue's "High Number" series – conveys an appearance far superior to the image that usually comes to mind upon hearing the expression "Good." As an outstanding value in a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle, this may be the absolute ideal in terms of appearance. Here is the Mick's most famous card, presented in attractive and collectable Good condition (qualified as noted).
