Jack Brickhouse was the voice of the Chicago Cubs on WGN-TV for decades. The legendary announcer was there for the Cubs greatest moments of the 20th century, including the great careers of Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, and Ron Santo. Brickhouse was also the voice of the 1954 World Series between the New York Giants and Cleveland Indians, calling Willie Mays’ seminal basket catch in Game 1 for a national audience on NBC. Offered here is Brickhouse’s 1955 TV Guide Chicago Award for Best Sportscaster. The award measures approximately 5.75 x 6 inches at its widest dimensions. It shows a gold man operating a similarly gold TV camera. This award is a fantastic treasure from one of baseball’s greatest broadcasters.
