Every Hall of Fame career must have a beginning, and for Roberto Clemente, that beginning came on April 17, 1955 when the Pittsburgh Pirates faced off against the Brooklyn Dodgers at Forbes Field. Clemente would hit a single off Jonny Podres during the bottom of the first inning during the Pirates' 10-3 loss to the Dodgers. Clemente would go on to have a remarkable career, earning 15 All-Star appearances, two World Series titles, four NL batting titles, and the 1966 NL MVP, solidifying himself as one of the greatest players in MLB history.
Offered in this lot is a pass for the April 17, 1955 game between the Pirates and Dodgers when Roberto Clemente made his MLB debut and recorded his first hit. The facsimile signature of John W. Galbreath appears on the bottom corner. The pass comes encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (46166905), who gave the item the grade of VG 3.
