During a run of seven seasons, from 1947 through 1953, the Brooklyn Dodgers were undeniably one of the best teams in all of Major League Baseball. Unfortunately, they didn’t have even a single World Series title to show for it. The Dodgers made it to the Fall Classic in 1947, 1949, 1952 and 1953, only to fall short of the ultimate prize each time. What was even more frustrating – as if the losses weren’t enough – was the fact that on each of these occasions, the Dodgers were beaten by the cross-town New York Yankees, with the Series twice going the full seven games. At long last, and with great relief to all of their fans, the Dodgers finally crossed the finish line in 1955, reaching baseball’s summit after an epic seven-game World Series victory. Their opponent? Naturally, the Yankees.

Offered is this Official National League Warren Giles baseball signed by 23 members of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers, the only World Series championship won while the Dodgers were in Brooklyn. Manager and Hall of Famer Walter Alston signed his name in blue pen across the sweet spot, which also has “WORLD”, “CHAMPS” and “1955” inscribed in an unknown hand. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson (boldly signed on the south panel) and Roy Campanella (east panel), with additional signatures of Gil Hodges, Carl Furillo, Don Newcombe, Clem Labine, Ed Roebuck, Roger Craig, Carl Erskine, Dick Howell, Don Hoak, Sandy Amoros, Karl Spooner, Don Bessent and others. Please note that the signatures of Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, Johnny Podres, Billy Loes, Russ Meyer, Rube Walker and Jim Gilliam have been deemed clubhouse versions, a common practice in that era. This ball displays toning, but the signatures are strong and have been protected by a coating of shellac. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AH87355).
