Graded MINT 9 by PSA. A stellar Rookie Card, this Swedish Rekord Journal offering portrays the inimitable Pele in the year of his first FIFA World Cup appearance. The 17-year old led Brazil to the 1958 FIFA World Cup title in Sweden, with Pele’s brace in the final against the host nation powering Brazil to a 5-2 win and their first of five FIFA World Cup triumphs. This hand-cut rookie card shows three-time FIFA World Cup champion and consensus greatest soccer player of all-time portrayed against a sky-blue background. Please note that the name printed on the bottom of the card, “Edvaldo Alves Santarosa,” is the government name of Brazil star Dida, emphasising Pele’s status as an unknown rookie to the European soccer establishment. Of the 38 examples of this card in PSA’s population report, this example is one of three graded at its tier, with none graded higher.
