Only a year after moving out to Los Angeles, the Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Braves in a best-of-three playoff for the National League pennant and then defeated the Chicago White Sox to capture the World Series title. The ’59 team was the perfect combination of the old “Boys of Summer” of Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese and Gil Hodges and the future dynasty of Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale and Maury Wills.
25 members of the 1959 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers have signed this “Accelerated Official Baseball”. Signatures include Hall of Famer Walter Alston on the sweet spot, along with a clubhouse signature of Duke Snider. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale and Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges, Wally Moon, Don Zimmer, Norm Larker, Clem Labine, Stan Williams, Rip Repulski, Carl Furillo, Bob Lillis, Solly Drake, Jim Gilliam, Dick Gray, Joe Pignatano, Carl Erskin, Johnny Podres and others. This ball comes from the collection of the late Gene Autry and a LOA signed by his widow Jacqueline Autry will accompany this ball. Additionally, there is a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A25571). Please note that the signatures of Ron Fairly and Stan Williams have been deemed clubhouse versions by Beckett.
