This 2" diameter cast bronze medal was issued to participants at the 1960 Rome summer Olympics and pictures a nude female torchbearer in the foreground with the Olympic rings in the background. The back features eagles in flight over the Rome stadium. The original acrylic case that the medal was issued in is included, but it does have several cracks in it. The 1960 Summer Olympics are probably most known for a young boxer named Cassius Clay winning a gold medal in the light heavyweight boxing division. Clay made his professional boxing debut less than 2 months after the Olympics and would go on to become one the greatest boxers of all time.
