This is an Official Program and Scorecard for the 1961 New York Yankees.  This program, purchased for .15 cents at Yankee Stadium, features a scored scorecard from the game on September 26, 1961.  The significance of this game, to Major League Baseball in general and to Yankees fans in particular, cannot be understated, as this is the day Roger Maris belted his 60th home run of the season, tying Babe Ruth for what many thought was an unbreakable record.  Just 5 days later, Maris would hit #61 later, on the final day of the season, setting the new home run mark that would stand for 37 years until Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa staged their home run chase for the ages.  You can review the actual boxscore from Maris’s historic day here.
