Presented here are two pages from a personal check registry belonging to Betty White. An enduring icon of American film and television, White began her career (which is still active!) in 1939. White’s career includes roles in iconic television series such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Golden Girls as well as numerous films. This registry was written by White in July of 1962, roughly a month after the release of her first feature film, Advise and Consent, where she played a senator named Bessie Adams. This two page registry features numerous entries, and largely covers White’s checks made out to an “Ashley Steiner”. The expenses include payments to “The Tailwagger Foundation”, “Jewels by Lee”, and a $411.18 road trip taken with Steiner to New York. The registry is written in blue pen on light blue paper with “Betty White” printed on top. White signed the bottom of the page, adding the inscription “Hope your trip was a smash! / Betty”. This item comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (Y74440).
