By 1964 Mickey Mantle was not only the most popular player in the game, but also one of its most productive. In the years since his debut in 1951, The Mick helped the Yankees win seven World Championships and ten pennants while his personal resume showed three AL MVP Awards, a Triple Crown, four Home Run Championships and made the All-Star team every summer since 1952. Going into that 1964 season, Mantle was number 5 on the career home run list, and although injuries were beginning to take their toll, The Mick was still the class of the American League. This bat was used during the four-year stretch, 1964-1967, during which Mantle put the finishing touches on his Hall of Fame-bound career. 1964 would mark Mantle’s last World Series appearance, the 10th of his career. He hit 35 home runs, batted .303 and led the league in on-base percentage.

The next two seasons saw Mantle do several stretches on the DL, yet each time he came back strong, hitting a combined 42 home runs. He’d add 22 more to his home run tally in 1967, becoming just the sixth man to reach the 500-career home run mark. Used during those last great summers of his career, Mantle used this bat to cement his reputation as one of the greatest ballplayers of all-time. The Adirondack 113A model bat displays excellent game use. The barrel has several ball marks and scuffs along with bat rack paint streaks and cleat imprints. The knob and barrel ends have abrasions from contact with the ground and the handle has slight traces of pine tar. The knob has been stamped with the model number “113A” and a very light number #7 can be seen in faded marker as also confirmed in the letter of authentication from JT Sports. The most beloved Yankee of the post-war era has signed his late-career gamer, his unmistakable flowing script present right on the barrel in black marker. The signature appears to be an excellent vintage example. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B03983) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5 and a LOA from J.T. Sports for the game use. Additionally, there are LOA’s from PSA/DNA (S07270) and JSA (Y84015) for the signature.
