Offered is a Referee magazine featuring the Muhammad Ali vs Sonny Liston. This magazine cover was from the original Ali vs Liston fight, where Ali was still known by his birth name Cassius Clay. This cover still lists the venue as the “Closed Circuit Theatre and Auditorium TV” in Boston Massachusetts. This fight however would not take place in Boston and would instead be held at the “Convention Center” in Miami Beach, Florida. This legendary fight would see Ali emerge as the victor after dominating Sonny Liston for seven rounds before eventually getting the TKO win. With this win, Ali would capture the WBC, The Ring, and lineal heavyweight titles. This would be the beginning to his legendary reign over the heavyweight division.
Ali has autographed this magazine over his picture in bold black ink. This cover is in good condition with no signs of wear and has been matted and framed to a 12 x 15 inch dimension. This item has been authenticated by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication and comes with a LOA (A03293).
