Cassius Clay has vintage signed this rare 1965 “pocket” training schedule for his famous second fight against Sonny Liston. This 5.625” x 4.25” black and white schedule with a center fold line to fit into a shirt pocket, pictures Cassius Clay on either side and details his training schedule for May 4-24, 1965 at the Schine Inn of Chicopee, Massachusetts. The Champ signed this piece “To Bobby From Muhammad Ali,” in blue ballpoint pen. Ali had only just recently changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali after the first Liston bout in 1964, after which he converted to Islam. Their rematch fight was fought in Lewiston, Maine, on May 25, 1965 and ended almost as fast as it began with Neil Leifer’s image of Cassius Clay standing over Sonny Liston and taunting him to get up after delivering his famous 60 second 1st round knockout punch. This is the first such schedule from this famous fight that we have seen and signed as it is with one of the earliest known signatures of “Muhammad Ali,” is a highly coveted signed Ali artifact.
