Under head coach Vince Lombardi – and with players such as Bart Starr, Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung – the 1966 Green Bay Packers finished the regular season with a record of 12-2, first place in the West Division. A 34-27 victory over the Dallas Cowboys would give the Packers the NFL championship. What followed was the first-ever Super Bowl, where the Packers defeated the AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs by a final score of 35-10.

Presented here is a Jostens 14K gold 1966 Green Bay Packers Super Bowl championship ring with a unique story behind it. This ring was originally ordered by Lombardi and given to a family member. However, it was not in the correct size and rather than being returned to the factory to be redone, it was kept in store inventory. This ring features a large round CZ set on an image of a globe, while “1966 WORLD CHAMPIONS GREEN BAY PACKERS” is displayed around the outer perimeter. One shank shows a Packers helmet and lists championship years of 1961, 1962, 1965 and 1966. “LOMBARDI” is displayed at the top while “COACH GEN-MGR” appears inside the image of a football at the bottom. NFL and AFL logos appear on the opposite side of the ring, with final scores of Green Bay’s playoff opponents above, and “HARMONY COURAGE VALOR” below. “JOSTEN 14K” is stamped inside the band - which shows wear - of this approximate size 12 ring. This item weighs approximately 38.4 grams and comes with an old Jostens ring box and the consignor's purchase LOA.
