Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this 1967 All-America Basketball Team award for his play with the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins. Abdul-Jabbar, known then as Lew Alcindor, was in his first year of varsity ball, averaging 29 points and 15.5 rebounds per game while leading UCLA to the first of three straight national championships. This award measures 19.5 x 16.5 inches and is printed with “All-America / The Associated Press, / on the basis of ballots cast by member newspaper sports editors, / and radio and television sportscasters / through the United Sates / has selected / Lew Alcindor UCLA / First Team / a member of the / All-America Basketball Team”. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
