This award was given to Yogi Berra for his “Contribution to Baseball Over A Long Period of Time”. That’s quite an understatement - Berra was an 18 time All-Star and had won 10 World Championships with the Yankees. And without Yogi’s leadership and big bat, it’s most likely the Yankees would not have won even a quarter of those championships. It’s with that in mind that the Baseball Writers of New York made Berra the 1967 recipient of the Slocum Award.

The oval wooden plaque measures 11 x 14 inches and has a metal diamond with crossed bat and pen mounted to the front. The engraved plaque reads “The Bill Slocum Memorial Award To Yogi Berra For His Contribution to Baseball Over A Long Period of Time Presented by the New York Chapter Baseball Writers’ Association of America 1967”. The wooden base shows light wear from age and display with some minor dings in its surface. The award comes with a full LOA from Steiner for its Yogi Berra Estate provenance.
