Graded 98 GEM 10 by SGC. Hall of Famer, in his debut appearance. This is one of just two examples at its tier among a total of more than 1,400 copies recorded in SGC's census reporting. Presented is the cherished rookie card of the youthful future Hall of Famer. As a young hurler, Ryan was erratic with his pitches. But, for what he lacked at the time in control, he more than compensated in velocity. And who knew that after one of the longest careers in major league history, from 1966 to 1993, he would set so many records? (Most notably, 5,714 strikeouts and seven no-hitters.)

Ryan became to pitching what Lou Gehrig was to fielding and hitting, a veritable "Iron Man." This elite foundation piece from Ryan's great career is flawless in every respect. Its corners are impeccable, and its inking, at each fiber, reflects quality that's demonstrably superior to virtually all others. The reflective capacity of this special piece's pristine surface gloss is simply stunning, and the item's projection of color is unequaled. SGC's careful scrutiny has affirmed only one other copy of this depiction at the Gem Mint level, and PSA has acknowledged just a single "10" specimen. Clearly, this is among the very finest Ryan rookies in the hobby, in true Gem Mint condition.
