New York Yankees longtime star Bobby Murcer was given this Most Popular Yankee award by the New York C.Y.O. in 1969. Murcer, in his first full season, burst out of the gates, collecting 26 home runs, 82 RBI, and a .259 batting average in 1969. Murcer would go on to play 13 non-continuous seasons with the Yankees, earning four consecutive All-Star appearances for the team in the early 1970’s. The offered trophy is roughly 27 inches high, and depicts a silver Greek man standing over a silver batter. A bat formerly accompanied the batter. A plaque on the cylindrical base reads “New York C.Y.O.  Most Popular Yankee Player Award / C.Y.O. Day Yankee Stadium / Aug. 6th, 1969 / Won by Bobby Murcer”. This trophy comes with a LOA from the Murcer family.
