Presented is a framed display celebrating the historic mission of NASA’s Apollo 11, to the surface of the Moon and back, in July 1969. Featured in this display is the front page of the July 21, 1969 edition of The Times – Reporter (Dover-New Philadelphia, Ohio) with the incredible banner headline, “WE DID IT!”. The 15 x 22-inch broadsheet newspaper has a photo of astronaut Buzz Aldrin below the headline in the left column and an illustration of the Lunar Excursion Module “lifting off” the Moon in the right column. The sub-headline “One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind” in the center of the page, and an editorial cartoon of a footprint on the Moon in the bottom left column. Below the newspaper on the left is a 4-inch embroidered official cloth patch of the Apollo 11 logo, with a Bald Eagle landing on the Moon, obtained from the Kennedy Space Center. At the bottom center below the newspaper is a 2 x 6-inch black and silver engraved metal plaque with the legend “First Men on Moon Apollo 11 July 1969,” a model of what was placed on the moon. At the bottom right is a 2 ½ -inch white metal button with a blue line reproduction of the Apollo 11 mission logo. The display is mounted in a royal blue paper matte with red borders and white cut-lines, within a 24½ x 36½-inch brown wood frame and glass. A great display that celebrates the pinnacle moment of the 20th century.
