Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won his first NBA title in 1970-71, leading the Milwaukee Bucks to the franchise’s first NBA championship in only their third year of existence. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, averaged an eye-popping 26.6 points and 17 rebounds during the playoffs, with Milwaukee’s playoff run culminating in a four-game sweep of the Baltimore Bullets in the NBA Finals. Abdul-Jabbar was presented with the NBA Finals MVP award at the end of the postseason, as well as numerous other accolades from around the basketball world.

Offered here is Abdul-Jabbar’s Sport Magazine Playoff MVP Award from the 1971 NBA Playoffs. This plaque measures 15 x 12 inches and is adorned with two protruding eagle statuettes on each bottom corner. A plaque on the award reads “Sport Magazine / NBA Playoff Award / to / Lew Alcindor / Most Valuable Player / 1971”. This award is in good condition. This historically significant award derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
