CFL Hall of Famer Tony Gabriel debuted with the Ti-Cats in 1971 but made his mark in 1972, hooking up with rookie QB Chuck Ealey for 49 receptions, 733 yards and 3 TDs. In the Grey Cup championship game, Gabriel caught three critical passes during the two-minute-drill drive that ended in a game-winning field goal. A 2-time Grey Cup champion and 8-time All Star, Gabriel also won the 1978 CFL Most Outstanding Player Award.
His silver trophy stands 4-5/8" tall and measures approximately 3" wide, with engravings of "PRESENTED BY HIS EXCELLENCY EARL GREY FOR THE AMATEUR RUGBY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP OF CANADA" and "HAMILTON 1972" (beneath a raised CFL logo shield) and "TONY GABRIEL." Condition is about EX overall with typical surface patina due to age, some of which obscures Gabriel's name. It is important to note that Grey Cup player trophies from this era—let alone from a HOFer—are quite rare. Signed LOA from Tony Gabriel.
