Presented here is a baseball signed by 31 members of the 1973 Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles swept aside American League East competition in 1973, running away with the Division crown by eight games over the Red Sox. They advanced to the ALCS, however the Oakland Athletics triumphed in a hotly-contested five game series. The 1973 O’s were led by two Hall of Famers, third baseman Brooks Robinson and 1973 American League Cy Young Award winner Jim Palmer.
This Official American League Joseph E. Cronin baseball features the signatures of Earl Weaver and Billy Hunter on the sweet spot. Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson also signed this ball. Other signatures include Boog Powell, Mark Belanger, Bobby Grich, Don Baylor, Frank Baker, Rich Coggins, Terry Crowley, Jim Frey, Bob Reynolds, Don Hood, Al Bumbry, Doyle Alexander, Larry Brown, Ed Watt, George Staller, and several more. The signatures have been written in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58610), who have determined that four of the signatures (Rich Coggins, Tommy Davis, Larry Brown and Mark Belanger) were partially enhanced and traced by an unknown hand.
