Offered is a 1973 NFC Rushing Champion trophy presented to Green Bay Packers running back John Brockington. The 7 x 14-inch trophy includes a 10-inch copper-colored metal carved figure of a football player with his helmet held at his right attached to a 4 x 7-inch circular wood base painted black. On the front of the black base is a 2¼ x 7¼-inch silver metal plaque engraved in black with the legend “John Brockington Green Bay Packers 1973 NFC Rushing Champion 1,144 Yards National Football League Players Association” with the logo “National Football League Players” encircling a football engraved at the left of the plaque. The sculpted football player is tarnished and has scratches on the lower body, and the figure is loose from the wood base. The wood base, which has a cork bottom, is scratched along the top edge and lower edge. The award plaque is scratched at the top and center. Brockington became the first NFL player to ever rush for 1,000 or more yards in each of his first three seasons. In his rookie year of 1971 with the Packers, Brockington was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press, rushing for 1,105 yards and a 5.1 YPC in 14 games. Brockington was named All-Pro in 1971, 2nd Team All-Pro in 1973 and All-NFC in 1972. Brockington was also selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls (1971–1973).
