Santos FC and Brazil legend Pele wore this white Santos FC primary shirt on October 14th, 1973. Pele, the consensus greatest soccer player of all-time, played for Santos from 1956 until his 1974 transfer to the New York Cosmos. Pele, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 77 goals in 92 caps, wore this jersey for Santos’ game against Vasco Da Gama at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, a 1-1 draw. In these days, it was common for Pele to recycle shirts from his teammates, and in this case the offered Santos FC shirt previously belonged to Brecha, the club’s number “7”. Pele made 49 domestic appearances during the 1973 season, scoring 19 goals in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and 11 goals in the Campeonato Paulista.

This Santos FC jersey has the club badge and two gold stars sewn on the chest. An “Athleta” manufacturers tag is sewn on the back inside collar. Pele’s number “10” is sewn on the back of the jersey in black fabric. Pele has signed the front of this jersey in black marker, writing his signature as “Edson = Pele”. Pele’s birth name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento. This shirt comes with a COA from Beckett Authentication Services (F06020) and a LOA from Joao Carlos Leite.
