On August 9, 1974, President Richard M. Nixon resigned his office and left government service, the first sitting president to ever resign in the wake of the Watergate investigations and the threat of Congressional impeachment. The 37th president of the United States from 1969 until his resignation in 1974, Nixon previously served as the nation's 36th vice president from 1953 to 1961 under President Eisenhower, and as a representative and senator from California. Offered is a Richard Nixon signature on a typed letter of resignation dated August 9, 1974 on White House stationery. Nixon has signed his name in blue pen on the 5ΒΌ x 8-inch ivory letterhead addressed to Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. The historically significant document is in great condition and a bold signature from Nixon and comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
