Outspoken, controversial and one of the great characters of the game, Dock Ellis played for five major league teams in his 12-year career and is perhaps best remembered as a Pittsburgh Pirate but was also a major contributor on a very memorable 1976 American League champion team, going 17-8 with a 3.19 ERA in 211 innings. And as Dock once said “Everyone wants to wear the Yankees pinstripes.” Ellis wore this size-46 Yankees home jersey in 1976 with the interlocking NY logo in navy tackle twill stitched on the left-breast and the number 36 sewn on the back where a previous number had been removed. A Wilson manufacturers label and strip tag with the year “76” and uniform set number “2” are attached at the left front tail. Jersey shows heavy wear with a smattering of stains on the front, back and interior collar; comes with LOA from noted sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
