Fittingly, the 1976 NBA All-Star Game was played in Philadelphia during the United States’ bicentennial. Played at the Spectrum in south Philadelphia, the East All-Stars defeated the West All-Stars 123-109 as Buffalo Braves/Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo of the East and Los Angeles Lakers/Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the West led all scorers with 22 points. Hall of Famer Dave Bing of the Washington Bullets was named the game’s MVP.

Kareem was making his seventh All-Star appearance of what would be a record 19 selections by the time his legendary career was over. The 1975-76 season was Abdul-Jabbar’s first season in LA after being traded by the Milwaukee Bucks following the 1974-75 season. Kareem wore this all-blue West All-Star uniform (jersey and shorts) during the 1976 All-Star Game in Philadelphia. The jersey is a blue mesh Wilson size 44 with “WEST” and “33” sewn on the front in white tackle twill. There are six red stars sewn around the “WEST” and “33” in red tackle twill. The Wilson tag is sewn on the front left tail. The back has “33” sewn on in white tackle twill with a matching blue mesh name plate above that has “JABBAR” sewn on in white tackle twill. The open sleeves and collar are bordered in white and red stripes.

The matching shorts were also manufactured by Wilson and have a size 34 waist. These blue mesh shorts have a white waist with a red stripe down each side and along the bottom borders. The front have two red tackle twill stars on the vertical red stripe on the sides. The Wilson size 34 tag is sewn on the inside. This uniform set comes with a LOA from MEARS, who have given this uniform its highest possible grade of A10, plus a letter of provenance from Michael Tanner, whose father Del Tanner was the trainer for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1974-79 and according to his letter gifted this uniform to his father.
