Hall of Famer Tom Seaver led the New York Mets to the 1969 World Series title and 1973 National League pennant. Between 1970 and 1976, Seaver led the National League in five of those seven seasons. By 1977, as he was approaching free agency, Seaver and the Mets were growing farther apart on contract terms and on June 15th, Seaver was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Pat Zachry, infielder Doug Flynn and minor leaguers Steve Henderson and Dan Norman in what was referred to as the “Midnight Massacre”.
Offered here is a New York Mets Rawlings size 46 button-down home pinstriped jersey worn by Seaver during the 1977 season before his infamous trade to the Reds. “Mets” and his number “41” have been sewn on in blue and orange tackle twill. The Rawlings tag and “SET 1” flag are sewn on the bottom front right tail. The inside back collar has the team patch that reads “46 77 41”. The back of the jersey has “41” sewn on in blue and orange tackle twill. The left sleeve has the Mets skyline logo patch sewn on. This jersey displays light game use and has been signed by Seaver on the front with the inscription “My ’77 gamer”. This jersey comes with a LOA from Sports Investors for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A75876).
