For 1980, Topps Card Company designed a basketball card set unique from their other sports sets. Each standard 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" card was divided into 3 cards with a perforation between each. Kids were expected to tear the single card into 3, and thus still-complete panels of this set are much more scarce and desirable than the small detached cards. Also unique to this set is that on one 3-card panel the rookie cards of two of the games future superstars are featured: Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Between the two Hall of Famers, is a card of Julius Erving, making this one of the most fantastic basketball cards ever produced. Besides being a complete panel of three, each player has signed their card in blue Sharpie, propelling an already scarce card into the stratosphere of desirable basketball cards. PSA/DNA has slabbed and graded the signatures a MINT 9.
