Presented here is a 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics presentation medal offered in its original sky-blue case. A scene of winter Olympians is etched in high-relief on the front of this medal, while the back side of the medal has the Olympic Oath etched in high-relief on a series of concentric circles. The Oath reads: “In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honor of our teams”. “© IOC 1978 MACO” is etched on the side of the medal. This medal comes in a presentation box bearing the Lake Placid Olympics logo. Every athlete at the Olympic Games is presented with a presentation medal regardless of their finish on or off the podium. This item is a terrific relic from one of the most indelible Olympic Games of recent memory.
