Due to the players’ strike in 1981, the regular season was split into two halves. The Los Angeles Dodgers won the Western Division in the first half of the season and they faced the Houston Astros, the winner of the second half Western Division in the expanded playoff format. The Dodgers would go on to defeat the Astros in the Division Series and then knocked off the Montreal Expos in the NLCS.
This offered official lineup card is from Game 4 of the NLCS which the Dodgers won 7-1 to stave off elimination. The Dodgers official card is blue with “ON ROAD-OFFICIAL BATTING ORDER CLUB LOS ANGELES”. Handwritten in blue pen is the dated “10-18-81”. There are three columns “ORIGINAL”, “CHANGE” and “ALSO ELIGIBLE” with the Dodgers lineup handwritten in blue pen that reads “Lopes Russell Baker Garvey Cey Monday Guerrero Scioscia Hooton”. “Tom Lasorda” was printed in black pen next to the “MANAGER’S SIGNATURE” line. There is a vertical crease down the center. Please note that the date is incorrectly listed as 10-18 when the game was played on 10-17-81. The card originates from the personal collection of Tommy Lasorda.
